The Original "Widnes Dock Church" was the original Anglican church in this area which was opened in 1858 and was commonly referred to as the Widnes Dock Church. Built on land composed partly of chemical waste (galligu), the structure suffered severe subsidence over time, leading to bulging walls and roof distortion. Situated immediately adjacent to Spike Island and the historic Widnes Dock basin, the church was demolished in 1901.
