The HALTON Show
1984

The first Halton Show on Sunday, August 12th promises to be the most spectacular one day events ever seen in Widnes and Runcorn.
The revitalised wasteland at Spike Island in West Bank is the ideal setting for the festivities, which council organisers have billed as the biggest event this year in north west Cheshire.
At least 20,000 visitors are expected to flock to the show and Halton Recreation Officer, Jim Clarke, who has organised the day long event, feels sure everyone will have a good time.

At the official opening of the main exhibition centre are from left to right: West Banker born and bred Jack Ashley MP, Halton MP Gordon Oakes, Cllr. Stan Hill, The Mayor and Mayoress of Halton Cllr. Ken Ebbrell and Mrs. Eve Ebbrell.

Body popping and break dancing from this energetic foursome certainly had the crowds gasping at their talents.

The Halton Show was certainly a hit with the younger members of our community.

The hot air balloon caused quite a stir with crowds flocking to queue for a ride.

The scorching sun tempted revellers into the water, much to the dismay of organisers who made repeated announcements for them to to stay on the bank.

Intent on watching the Radio City Showmobile were many thousands of revellers from Widnes and Runcorn.
